the the the the the the the the the of MARCH 31, 1970- Local deaths Mrs. James Grissett, church worker Mrs. James Grissett 46, of 421 S. Grand, died, at Welborn Baptist Hospital yesterday at 10:10 p.m. returning from a trip to her native Mississippi.

Mrs. Grissett, the former Willie B. Foster, suffered an apparent cerebral hemorrhage at 5:30 p.m. yesterday. She and her family had returned from a visit with relafives in Pace, yesterday at noon.

Mrs. Grissett was a member of the Little Valley Baptist Church and the church choir for the last 20 years. She was treasurer of the senior choir and was a member of the Usher's Board of the Church, She- was formanager of the L. V. Chorus, a local singing group.

Surviving are her husband of 24 years, James a daughter, Miss Margaret M. Grissett of Evansville; sons, Robert T. and Michael both of Evansville; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Foster Sr.

of Pace, a Hesters of daughter, Evansville; Miss a Barbara foster son, Jerry Harris of Evansville; a sister, Miss Charlie Mae Foster of Waukegan, brothers, Jesse Foster of Waukegan and James Foster of Pace, one grandchild; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements are pending at Gaines Funeral Home. BYRON CALHOUN, 61, of 2615 N. Court Drive, died at 7:35 p.m. yesterday at Wel- born Medicenter.

Mr. Calhoun retired as a buyer for Swift and Co. about 18 years ago. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Hadi Shrine, Eagles and Central Turners. Surviving are his wife, a Frances; sons, William and Robert, both of Evansville; sisters, Mrs.

Eloise Lauterbach of South Bend, and Mrs. Kathleen Hoffman of Pekin, a brother, Boulware of Baltimore, two grandchildren; two nieces and a newphew. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Fountain Terrace East Chapel where services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. by Dr.

STAFF SGT. RICHARD L. SISCEL, a 28-year-old former Evansville resident who served two tours duty in Vietnam, died of apparent self-inflicted gunshot woods at Ft. Knox, Saturday at 1 a.m. Staff Sgt.

Siscel attended from Vietnam to Ft. Knox last month. Authorities at Ft. Knox are investigating and details, were not immediately available. Staff St.

Siscel attended Central High and St. Matthew's Church of School, Christ in Evansville. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Siscel of Evansville; his wife, Geisela of Lawton, Okla; sons, Ben, Gary and Michael, all of Lawton; brothers, James of Bicknell, Larry and Tom, both serving aboard the U.S.S.

Kennedy at Norfolk, and a grandmother, Mrs. Rose Chapple of Tell City, Ind. The body is being taken to the Becker Funeral Lawton, where arrangements are pending. ALLEN JOINER, 65, of 209 Second Avenue, died at Welborn Baptist Hospital today at 1 a.m. Mr.

JAMES CHAPMAN JOHNSTON, 71, of 2517 N. Elsas, died at 9:10 p.m. yesterday a at Deaconess Hospital. Mr. Johnston was employed for 30 years as an inspector for the Chrysler before Grid star to face court on Saturday A Bosse High School football star is scheduled to appear in City Court Friday night as a result of a hit-andrun accident Saturday night resulting in jury to a woman pedestrian.

Brian Mackey, 18, of 633 S. Run nymeade, an All City quarterback last season, is charged with hit-and-run with personal injuries to a pedestrian. Police said Mackey was traveling south on Line near Gum when he ran a stop sign and struck a pedestrian, Corine Miller of 758 Judson, who suffered injuries to her right shoulder. Mackey was fleeing from an earlier hit-and-run accident when he hit Mrs. Miller, police said.

The earlier accident involved a car at Madison and Parrett driven by Donald Montgomery of 1405 Venice, police said. Montgomery chased Mackey, saw him run the stop sign and hit Mrs. Miller. Montgomery told police he stopped to aid injured woman but got the license number of the Mackey car as it drove away. Mackey was arrested later at his home.

Government study unit will meet April 14 The next meeting of the LoThe Government Study Commission has been scheduled for April 14, Commission Chairman F. Wesley Bowers said today. Bowers said the time of the meeting hasn't been determined yet, "but it will probably be in the evening." Residents against gover consolidation protesting, asked the commission to hold its meetings at later hours so more persons could attend. The commission has been meeting at 3:30 p.m. but Bowers said the next meeting will probably be at 7 or 7:30 p.m.

The commission is scheduled to take action on setting economic goals for the community to determine the extent of consolidation it will recommend to local officials and the 1971 legislature. Coffee Friday for cancer fund "A Coffee Day for Cancer," an annual joint project of local restaurant operators and the Vanderburgh County Cancer Society, has been scheduled for Friday. Proceeds from coffee sales in most Evansville restaurants that day will be donated to the Cancer Society for its research and education programs. The project was started in 1961 and has become one of the society's most successful fund raisers, said project chairman Mrs. Robert Longley.

50 Playboy magazines stolen A collection of Playboy magazines was reported stolen recently from an East Side home while the owner was vacationing in Florida. August L. Bergman of 2811 S. Green River Road told police yesterday that 50 copies of the magazines, plus an unknown amount of liquor were stolen sometime between March 20 and yesterday while he was vacationing. The intruder also ransacked the house.

Carpenter hurt A 28-year-old man told police he accidentally shot himself in the lower right leg last night while unloading a pistol at home. Wounded was Michael Slow of 1611 Hicks Drive. He was treated at St. Mary's Hospital for the .38 caliber bullet wound and released. Slow, a carpenter, said he was wounded at 6:40 p.m.
